On August 1, 2002 I acquire from Andy Lustig a group of photos of a Two Cent pattern collection. The photos were from a lecturer of numismatics. The collection represented by the photos was presumably sold by Julian Leidman 12 years ago (1990).
The color photos are on Kodak paper with a cachet for "Official sponsor of the Olympic Games". The color photos also have identification numbers. The consistent part of the number is "8 22-6" which I assume is August 22 (198)6, based on when Drew owned the collection.
| I have arranged the photos in sets. Usually a pair of photos. One with the obverses the other with the corresponding reverses. The photos came with the small stickers on the photos, presumably to identify by Judd numbers the various patterns. I think some errors were made in allocating the inventory to the photos. The lighting and color are marginal. |

Drew sold the collection through Julian Leidman. I was able to inventory the collection during the transfer at the Long Beach Convention of February 1996. I also had photos taken while the collection was at the Long Beach Convention. Those photos have not been integrated with these photos.
The Inventory of February 1996 include one additional pattern; a Judd 56. Which does not appear in the photos. Thus my assumption that these photos were taken prior to 1996. Corroborated by the apparent photo date of 1986.
Some old notes form Julian Leidman:
E. M. Sulks Collection of the 1970's (1973-78) offered in Numismatic
News and Coin World advertisement approximately November 1979.
Included 31 Two Cent patterns.
Julian Leidman: Can you add to the story?
From Julian Leidman 2002 September 3.
I am unable to identify via the photos. However, I would like
to offer
the following:
1. The Kodak imprint relating to the Olympics with the # 6 in
the date
should correspond to the 96 Olympics. The 1986 date does not make
any sense
to me.
2. The correct spelling is E M Sulkes.
3. How do the photos correspond to your photos of the collection?
4. From my recollection, John Eshbach from Lancaster, Pa., made
a set
of photos of this collection and this may have been that set.
It would have
been done about the same time that you did your photos. John and
his friend
Gerry Kochel do give educational programs at different seminars.
Hope this
helps.
